Our dessert inspired smoothie is a packed with ingredients that support skin health from the inside out. This smoothie is loaded with antioxidants, fatty acids and nutrients that help repair skin damage and keep cells nourished, plump and moisturized. And don't worry - it tastes good too! The Swiss chard compliments the sweetness of the apples with a light, earthy flavor and the cinnamon, walnuts and quinoa add a fun, fall twist.
Swiss Chard
- Dark leafy greens are amazing for your skin. Swiss chard is an excellent source of chlorophyll, vitamin K, vitamin A, potassium, magnesium, and alpha-lipoic acid. Swiss chard also contains biotin and folate, both B vitamins. Biotin supports skin, hair and nail health and folate helps repair DNA. The beta-carotene found in swiss chard converts to vitamin A in our bodies, which helps support cellular renewal for glowing skin!
Cinnamon
-The antioxidant effect of cinnamon is effective in scavenging for damaging free radical, and neutralizes them before they can harm good cells. Helps keep blood sugar levels stable by improving insulin sensitivity, and two by decreasing the urge to binge on sweets. It also reduces inflammation, and helps to fight bacterial and fungal infections.
Apples
- Loaded with vitamins, phyto-nutrients, minerals, electrolytes, and fiber. The vitamin C found in apples reduces free-radical damage and supports healthy collagen and elastin to keep your skin looking young and fresh.
Quinoa
- A health fibrous grain loaded with vitamins, minerals and amino acids that are great for your skin, hair and whole body. Contains Lysine, an important element in the creation of collagen and elastin. The body does not naturally produce lysine, so it's important to get it through your diet. Lysine helps repair damaged tissue and speeds healing. Quinoa also has high levels of riboflavan which supports skin's elasticity.
Walnuts
- A great source of Omega-3 Fatty acids which moisturize the skin from the inside out. Omega Fatty Acids plump up skin cells, making them well hydrated, less wrinkly and more protected against sun damage. They're great for your heart too!
